Home Protection Plans to End December 1, 2026

Evergy’s Surge and Wiring Home Protection Plans will no longer be available for customers after December 1, 2026.

What this means for you

Your current Home Surge Protection, Home Wiring Protection and/or Water Heater Repair Service will continue as usual until December 1, 2026. After that date, Evergy will no longer provide or service these plans.

A new option for your home protection: Oncourse® Home Solutions

To ensure you don't experience a gap in service, Evergy has partnered with Oncourse® Home Solutions, a nationally recognized provider of home protection programs*, that offers surge protection at an affordable price point, so you can maintain comparable coverage without paying more.

  • If you’d like to continue similar coverage, you can choose to enroll with our partner, Oncourse® Home Solutions at any time before December 1, 2026 to avoid a gap in coverage. Download this PDF to compare plans.

Frequently Asked Questions

Surge Protection

The surge protection device installed at your meter will remain in place and continue to function. After the program cutoff date, Evergy and Oncourse will no longer service, maintain or repair the device. 
If your device stops functioning before December 1, 2026, please call the Home Protection Services team at 816-472-0432.

The surge protection device may remain on your home. However, Evergy and Oncourse will no longer service or maintain the device, apart from removing the device.

If a replacement is needed, a licensed electrician may be able to replace it with a new device that the customer purchases independently.

General

If no action is taken, your Evergy Home Protection Plan will end on December 1, 2026, and you will no longer have surge, wiring or water heater protection through Evergy or Oncourse. Your will also no longer be billed for the home protection plan on your monthly bill.
To confirm which plan(s) you are currently enrolled in, please refer to your Evergy bill. On page 2, look for the “Billing Details” section, where your plan will be listed (i.e., “Surge Protection Basic”).  You can also view this information at any time by logging into your account at evergy.com and reviewing your billing details.
Customers can continue to contact Evergy with questions about their current Home Protection Plan through the December 1, 2026 by calling 816-472-0432. Questions about Oncourse coverage and enrollment should be directed to Oncourse Home Solutions at 833-289-1856 or visit Oncourse.com/Evergy
Evergy regularly evaluates its products to ensure they align with customer expectations, operational capabilities, and long-term value. The decision to phase out the Home Protection Plans allows Evergy to focus on its core services while helping customers maintain protection through an experienced third-party provider, Oncourse Home Solutions. 
All Evergy Home Protection Plans will end on December 2, 2026. Coverage will not be available through Evergy after that date.
Coverage will not transfer automatically. Customers must actively enroll with Oncourse Home Solutions to continue coverage.
Oncourse Coverage
Yes. Oncourse Home Solutions offers surge protection, interior electrical line, and water heater repair and replacement options that are comparable to Evergy’s Home Protection Plans. Coverage limits, terms and structure may differ, so customers are encouraged to review plan details carefully.
Exact matches are not required. Customers may select the Oncourse plan or combination of plans that best meet their needs. 

Filing Claims & Coverage Timing

Yes. Customers enrolled in an Evergy Home Protection Plan may continue to file eligible claims for covered events that occur before December 1, 2026.
Enrolling with Oncourse automatically cancels your Evergy Home Protection Plan. Future claims will be handled directly by Oncourse once coverage is active.
